Fresh Wharf
[edit]- ... that Fresh Wharf (pictured in the early 1960s) in the City of London stood on the site of a quay that dated back to Roman Londinium?

- Article is new enough and long enough. Added some sections for readability. Hook is correctly formatted but could be more pithy. It doesn't really matter when the excavations were for this purpose. Picture is under a free licence but its rather dark. Is anything better available? Article is interesting and well referenced. The lead is too short, it should summarise the content of the article, which it doesn't, and contain no references. Unable to check for close paraphrasing as all refs are offline (despite the hyperlinks) so AGF on that. It will be ready to go once these minor matters are dealt with. - Thanks, I made a tweek to the hook. (There's still one ref in the lead) Philafrenzy (talk) 22:35, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- I see Prioryman changed the image. I have just changed it back to the original one. The proposed new image may not be free (see Commons). We can still change the existing image for a better one if one is found. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:58, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- I don't see where you said. You changed the pic and did not post any message saying what you had done and why? Philafrenzy (talk) 12:59, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- I said above "I've located a couple of better ones on Flickr and have asked the uploaders' permission to use them." I did exactly as I said, got permission to use one of the better photos and sent the uploader's permission email to the OTRS address on Commons. It hasn't been actioned yet, not that I'd expected it to be. Prioryman (talk) 13:06, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I see your message now, but you didn't post any message when you changed it. Anyway it will be fine when it goes through. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:07, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'd be surprised if they used it actually. These long distance shots don't come out well as thumbs. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:16, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- Long may they continue not to, say I. It is a gift of top place to those who do (generally). Philafrenzy (talk) 13:49, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- I note that there is a problem with the OTRS release on Commons for the pic. I will leave it to the nominator to sort out but we may have to revert to the previous definitely free pic. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:02, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- The uploader hasn't got back to me yet. I suggest we hold off running this DYK for a few days until this is sorted out - there's no hurry to run it. Prioryman (talk) 09:10, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- I've not heard back from the uploader yet, but in the meantime I've got hold of another image which I've added above. Prioryman (talk) 17:47, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- That's a good pic I think. You could crop it on the right and at the bottom if you wanted, just for the purposes of the DYK thumb. Philafrenzy (talk) 17:57, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- Reticking. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:56, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
