On coming to promote this, I have to question the facts for the original hook. Of the two sources given in the article for the statement on halting soil erosion, one talks about the tree's use in China but does not mention soil erosion, and the abstract of the other talks about Eucalyptus species being used in the rehabilitation of degraded land rather than in the prevention of soil erosion.
