Ernst Gerold Schramm

[edit]

Created by Gerda Arendt (talk). Self-nominated at 07:21, 18 June 2019 (UTC).

  • I think the reason no one has commented is that your source doesn't say he was the voice of Christ, but just that he was a baritone in those performances. How do we know that aspect? Killiondude (talk) 01:17, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
I think the reason is that I only nominated just now, with several other nominations waiting longer. T am travelling, asking for patience. No decent source will say baritone because it's his voice type, but that wasn't in use at Bach's ime who would assign the words of Jesus (vox Christi) to a bass, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:09, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
I reviewed #4 of the multi-article nom. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:52, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
  • Full review needed since a QPQ has been provided. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:02, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
  • This is a drive-by comment and I may or may not review this, but sadly the ALT0 is probably not that great. It's basically a "actor sang role A for operas X and Y", and considering that it's pretty much their job, the hook just sounds too routine. Would a hook about him winning that international singing competition in Geneva work as a hook instead? That sounds pretty interesting, especially if combined with the other facts about his like (like how, as far as I can understand the article, the competition kickstarted his career and led to him getting all those opera roles in the first place). Only that giving your voice to the words of Jesus is not just any "role", and the Passions are not an opera, and Richter is a legend for many, even if you don't know him/it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:19, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
  • This article is new enough and long enough. The article is neutral and I detected no copyright or plagiarism issues. I think the role is sufficiently important to make this an interesting hook, however Karl Richter is mentioned in connection with him having roles in the St John Passion and the St Matthew Passion, but this sentence does not mention him performing in the role of "vox Christi". A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:13, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
In oratorios, you normally don't have roles. In a Bach Passion, you have the narrator, the voice of Christ (vox Christi), some small characters singing only little text, and soprano - alto - tenor - bass voices singing reflective commentary, which is the bulk of the music (in length). I added the detail in the recordings section, thinking that it's too much for the bio part. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:09, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
  • Thank you. That seems satisfactory. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:10, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
