Elsinore (video game)
- ... that the four contractors that worked on Elsinore were paid by the lead developers from their day job salaries? Source: "Rather, the group held onto its origins in the Game Creation Society as a sort of club, with its seven founders receiving no money until the profit share on the game's launch, and paying their four contractors out of salaries from their day jobs." ([1])
- ALT1:... that the developers of Elsinore, a video game based on Hamlet, drew inspiration for the game's time loop mechanic from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, anime, and visual novels? Source: "Though time loop games seem to have hit their stride in the last few years, Chironis says that aside from Majora's Mask, there weren't really many good examples when they first began working on Elsinore in 2010. Rather, the team took inspiration from anime and visual novels, which she says use the trope far more often." ([2]), "Majora's Mask is obviously a huge influence in this regard. All of the side content in that game occurs over specific time frames in such a way that it is impossible to see or change every outcome in one go." ([3])

- Comment: Definitely more hooks available for this one if these aren't sufficient, but I personally prefer ALT1.

- Article has been expanded enough, is well sourced, neutral, and has no obvious copyvio. I also prefer ALT1 for the hook. Just link Hamlet in the hook, and everything else is good. starsandwhales (talk) 01:03, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, but I don't see an inline cite for the ALT1 hook fact. There are two footnotes (3 and 7) for the following sentence, but neither one contains the hook facts. Yoninah (talk) 17:37, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: Hey, thanks for the flag here-- I added the sources to the sentence inline here. The sentence is based off of the quotes from both of the sources which you noted didn't contain the hook facts, but combined, I believe they do. The first mentions Majora's Mask but states "Rather, the team took inspiration from anime and visual novels, which she says use the trope far more often." The other source says talks about how Majora's Mask was "obviously a huge influence in this regard" from the lead designer of the game. We could make an ALT that would be based off of the more clear source (which doesn't mention Majora's Mask), maybe the below? Nomader (talk) 18:12, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
- ALT2:... that the developers of Elsinore, a video game based on Hamlet, drew inspiration for the game's time loop mechanic from anime and visual novels?
