  • ... that Elizabeth Wade White, descendant of the Puritans who migrated to New England in the 1630s, wrote The Life of Anne Bradstreet, the first American writer to be published in the then colonies? Source: Elizabeth Wade White papers ([1])

  • This is not a review but I have a few quick comments. First, for the primary hook, should it say "Puritans who migrated" rather than "Puritans migrated?" For Alt1 (and also in the body of the article), you should probably clarify whether she enrolled in a graduate program at Oxford, rather than an undergraduate program (in which case it would be rather unusual to enroll without an undergraduate degree). Also, I recommend expanding the introductory paragraph in this article (a.k.a. the "lead" -- see MOS:INTRO). In general, one-sentence introductions do not provide a sufficient summary of the article. That said, I commend you for your efforts to write an article about this fascinating individual. Well done! Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 19:47, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
"descendant of" or "descended from" needed. Alt 1 is worse. I don't dare look at the article itself. Johnbod (talk) 02:09, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
  • changed both hooks as per request Elisa.rolle (talk) 15:44, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
  • The article is indeed interesting, but it needs a thorough copyedit before it appears on the main page; there are tense issues, incomplete sentences, odd juxtapositions, and so on. Striking both hooks due to issues in each: the original hook is misleading in that while Bradstreet was apparently the first American colonist to have a book published, the book was published in England, not America, contrary to the hook's claim. For the ALT1 hook, you would expect someone without an undergraduate degree to be accepted into a Bachelor's program, since it is an undergraduate degree; what is more remarkable is that she entered Oxford at the age of 43 or 44. Finally, unless the books are not available on one of the English-language versions of Google Books, the reference links should be to them rather than the Italian version. From the linked article: "Bachelor of Letters (B.Litt. or Litt.B.; Latin Baccalaureus Litterarum or Litterarum Baccalaureus) is a second undergraduate university degree ..." (my bold) so accepting someone for it as their first degree is mildly hooky. Johnbod (talk) 15:22, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
BlueMoonset: ALT1 was right since EWW was accepted to a "second" undergraduate university degree even if she did not have an undergraduate university degree (as explained by Johnbod and the reason why I had already better detailed the hook). But sincerely, I do not feel how to touch again this article, so please withdrew also this DYK.
@Elisa.rolle and BlueMoonset: I did some copy-editing on the article, hope that helps. Revised hook below. --MopTop (talk) 20:44, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
ALT2:... that Elizabeth Wade White was accepted into the B.Litt. program at Oxford, despite not having an undergraduate degree? Source: Elizabeth Wade White papers "In 1950, without an undergraduate degree, White was accepted to Oxford University on the basis of research she had already completed on the poet Anne Bradstreet." [3] and Judd (2004), p. 413: "She did, however, earn a B.Litt from Oxford when she was in her forties." [4]
--MopTop: ALT2 is good for me. Elisa.rolle (talk) 21:48, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Full review needed. --Usernameunique (talk) 20:00, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Approving ALT2. New, in time, long enough, neutral, sourced, no apparent copyvios, inline hook citations check out, QPQ done. English is fine (thanks for the copyediting MopTop), and I changed the .it Google Books sources to .com. --Usernameunique (talk) 04:42, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
