Duang

[edit]

The invented character for "duang"

  • ... what the newly-coined Chinese word duang (pictured) means?
  • Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Laurel Run (Mill Creek)
  • Comment: For once, an image is absolutely needed to go with the hook; because it's a neologism, there is no existing character for it, so the only way the word in Chinese can be displayed is with an image. Because of this, the hook and the image will need to be run together.

  • The hook needs to start with "... that ..." Even then, it doesn't make sense. Yoninah (talk) 19:41, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
  • So much for trying to be clever... OK, how about the following. Prioryman (talk) 20:33, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
  • ALT1: ... that nobody knows what the newly-coined Chinese word duang (pictured) means?
  • I think it would be okay for the occasional hook to start with something other than "that" for those very rare instances in which it really works to make a better hook. However, in this case, I would say that ALT1 is actually a much better hook. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 22:45, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
  • (edit conflict) New enough, long enough, within policy, no copyvios detected, QPQ done. Hooks are cited and within policy. There's no rule that the hook has to start with "that" (Supplementary rule E1 describes this as lacking consensus) but in this case I like ALT1 better anyway. Good to go.
