Death of Ihsan Gürz
... that five years after the death of Ihsan Gürz in a Dutch police cell, his father was convicted of swearing at a police officer?Source: https://www.volkskrant.nl/nieuws-achtergrond/turks-nederlandse-ruzie-over-autopsie-deze-zaak-stinkt~bea61a66, https://dutchturks.nl/vader-van-vermoorde-ihsan-gurz-veroordeeld-tot-3-maanden-celstraf/

QPQ: Done. |
Overall: Article is new and long enough, hook is sourced and copyvio unlikely. The QPQ is from a rejected DYK, does this count? I couldn't find anything in the DYK rules after a short overview. Also the phrase about video evidence showing 5 police officers striking the victim I couldn't source. As to me that phrase would merit a source right after the phrase. Maybe we could find a better hook that describes that the police officer in question was present during his sons detention? Paradise Chronicle (talk) 13:02, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hiya Paradise Chronicle thanks for the review. Normally it would be expected for you to leave me a message on my talkpage saying the DYK needs work, you can use one of the subst templates listed above. To reply to the concerns, it's my belief that I carried out a full review before failing so the QPQ stands but happy to hear other views, and I don't mind to supply another. On the "five police officers", the relevant phrase in the source is "De familie zegt op videobeelden te hebben gezien dat de gearresteerde Ihsan, inmiddels met de handboeien om, nog vijf knietjes krijgt van de agenten" so 5 blows, not five agents, so i changed to "police officers striking Gürz". Not sure if you speak Dutch but google translate normally functions very well Dutch → English. As for the hook saying the police officer was present, I do sort of agree with you but found it hard to phrase. I'll try again ... Mujinga (talk) 16:03, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Where above are the subst. templates? Couldn't find them, sorry. I had the same issue with the google translate and chose not to source the 5 police officers as it didn't translate this and I didn't find 5 police officers anywhere else. And regarding the hook: How about adding something on the lines ... at his sons detention? at the end of the phrase?Paradise Chronicle (talk) 21:45, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry I wasn't clear on the subst templates, you only see them when *editing* this page. If you edit then scroll up there's a table with symbols and then info that says for example: DYK eligibility requires that an issue be addressed. Notify nominator with subst:DYKproblem Death of Ihsan Gürz header=yes sig=yes (I've removed the coding). I'll go back now and check the sources re adding at his son's detention Mujinga (talk) 09:44, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
- Paradise Chronicle I've made ALT2, see what you think! Mujinga (talk) 09:58, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Mujinga: ALT2 doesn't mention the death 'in Dutch police custody' anymore, which I'd see as important for a hook for this article. I tried the https://wordcounter.net/wordcounter and also if you word it broadly the hook shouldn't go over 200 characters. And would you know of a dutch editor who speaks the language well wo0'd be interested in ticking the hook in? They could have the DYK credit afterwards.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 19:24, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
- Paradise Chronicle ok i've struck ALT2 and we can go forward with ALT1. I know some editors who I think are native Dutch speakers, such as KittenKlub, Drmies and Effeietsanders. We can pin them here if you like, I'm not sure what you mean though since I'm confident in my Dutch (although you did spot that mistake I made) and they wouldn't get a credit ... oh you mean the QPQ credit perhaps? You've done a full review so you def get the QPQ credit. Thanks! Mujinga (talk) 10:56, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- I have added an ALT1a to show what I meant. You can work on the wording. I believe the police should be mentioned together with the death in custody and also Ihsans arrest. And yes I meant the QPQ credit and I am not so keen in having it if someone else ticks it in before me.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 19:11, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
