Death of Hank Williams
[edit]- ... that Hank Williams' funeral was the largest ever held for a citizen of Alabama, and the largest event ever held in Montgomery, surpassing Jefferson Davis' inauguration as President of the Confederacy?--GDuwenTell me! 01:18, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

- Other sources in the article indicate that it was the largest event ever held in Montgomery, so that backs that it was larger than the inauguration. In case that is not enough, I propose an alternate:

- I have put a merge template on this article, as I question the validity of separating this topic from the biographical article Hank Williams (which already covered his death). --Orlady (talk) 14:45, 10 October 2011 (UTC) Also, I estimate that the majority of the content of this article is not new to Wikipedia, but was split/replicated from the Hank Williams article. (Compare the article with this version of the Hank Williams article from 23 September.) --Orlady (talk) 16:46, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- It is certainly information that was separated from Hank Williams' biographical article. I created the article to avoid erasing content that was irrelevant in the context of the biography of Hank Williams. As of the future, I'm planing to expand this new article by adding information regarding to the topic from other sources, but until then, as it is a new article I decided to nominate it for DYK. (to my understanding the purpose of a DYK is to publicize an article whether is at the moment complete or not, as long as it covers the requirements.) --GDuwenTell me! 21:26, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Did you know#Selection criteria: "For DYK purposes, a "new" article is no more than five days old, and may not consist of text spun off from a pre-existing article." --Orlady (talk) 04:25, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I understand your point now. Is it still possible to remove the merge template? I'm planing to expand the article more to be a stand-alone article.--GDuwenTell me! 18:50, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I removed the merge proposal. I'll be interested to see your expansion. I hope that you will be revising the lead section of the stand-alone article so that it clearly identifies the subject matter of the article (i.e., the death of Hank Williams), rather than telling about Hank Williams' life. --Orlady (talk) 18:59, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Fails because content is not new. Article is mostly split from another pre-existing article. --Orlady (talk) 12:50, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
