David Dean (Texas politician)
- ... that "whatever Dean dreams, he spends"? Source: https://www.dallasobserver.com/news/oh-david-dean-is-mad-at-the-mayor-7117157
- ALT1 ... that David Dean served as general counsel to Governor of Texas Dolph Briscoe, a Democrat, as well as his Republican successor Bill Clements?

- Hi User:Chetsford - thanks for your work on this article. Unfortunately, as a negative quote from a political opponent I'm not sure the current hook would pass the DYK neutrality requirements, i.e. "neutral and does not focus unduly on negative aspects of living people". - Article was new enough and is long enough. I don't see the renomination thing nor the exact dates of his services in the source. AGFing on #3. Are we sure the Dean in #8 is this Dean? I don't see Doctor of Humane Letters in #9. QPQ and ALT1 are OK. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:47, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review! The DHumLitt was in a different source in the article I neglected to footnote to the sentence in question; that's now fixed. The Dean described in source #8 is described as "... an attorney and former Texas Secretary of State", ergo, I'm fairly confident it is the subject of the article. I've added sourcing to the service dates (Texas State Library source now #3) and clarified the renomination bit (I also took the liberty of expanding it slightly while I was at it).
