Court Square–23rd Street (New York City Subway)
[edit]- ... that Citicorp chose to build a tower near the Court Square–23rd Street station because it was one subway stop away from Citicorp's headquarters in Manhattan? Source: NY Times. "The key attraction of the site, which is in a neighborhood that for decades has experienced only slight development, is the nearness of three subway stations serving four lines. All three are within two blocks of the site, and the Hunters Point station on the Long Island Rail Road is also nearby. Among the stations is the 23d Street-Ely Avenue stop on the IND's E and F lines, a five-minute ride from the Lexington Avenue station that serves the Citicorp Center at 53d Street and Lexington Avenue and the bank's headquarters building at 399 Park Avenue."

- Article's GA status is new enough (a great expansion), is more than long enough and is within policy regarding neutrality, sourcing and avoidance of close paraphrasing. Both hooks are within length limits and properly sourced. QPQ has been met.Epicgenius, my only nit is that anyone unfamiliar with the geography won't understand that the "one subway stop away" is on the other side of the East River, which makes the distance of that one subway stop connecting Queens to Manhattan much more significant and more hook-worthy to the readers at large. Per the source already in the article, "The largest office building complex ever built in the boroughs outside of Manhattan has been proposed by Citicorp for its own use at a largely vacant site in Queens, just a subway stop from the bank's main operations in midtown Manhattan.", this decision to cross outside of Manhattan was a major one and was made possible by the presence of this subway stop.Ping me if the request is reasonable and if the change could be made. Great work overall and kudos to the editors for achieving GA status on this article. Alansohn (talk) 19:00, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for the review. I know that this distance is longer than that of other subway stops (like, say, 14th Street to 18th Street). But I worded it this way because it's still technically true. How about this one (This ALT is cutting a little close with 190 characters): epicgenius (talk) 19:19, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- ALT2: that Citicorp chose to build a tower near the Court Square–23rd Street station in Queens because it was one subway stop away from Citicorp's headquarters in Manhattan, across the East River?
- @Epicgenius: Coming to promote this nomination, I cannot see the hook facts in the article, which merely states that the site for the tower was chosen based on its proximity to the (unspecified) stations. I think the information from the NY Times you quote above needs to be in the article or we need a different hook. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:51, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: The info is not located in the article. I apologize for the confusion. epicgenius (talk) 15:47, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
- That looks better. Replacing tick per Alansohn's review. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:00, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
