Cloud Kingdoms

[edit]
  • ... that the time limit in the puzzle game Cloud Kingdoms is calculated in Manukas? Source: Zzap!64, May 1990, "The game is played against a weird time limit, the clock starting at 99 Manukas")

Improved to Good Article status by Canadian Paul (talk). Self-nominated at 16:58, 7 July 2018 (UTC).

  • @Canadian Paul: An explanation might be need to be added to the hook, to explain what "Manukas" are. That, or an alternate hook may need to be proposed here. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 13:02, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5:, my idea with the hook was that people would want to click the article to find out what a Manuka was, but I can see how that might be problematic given the way the hook is worded currently. Perhaps ALT 1: ... that the time limit in the puzzle game Cloud Kingdoms is calculated in a fictional measurement referred to as Manukas?" would be an improvement? • Article was promoted to GA status on July 7 and was nominated for DYK on the same day. Article is adequately sourced; hook fact for ALT1 is interesting and cited to an offline source so AGF accepted. Earwigs gives a 0.0% score. QPQ provided. However, the article has an inconsistency: the article lede states that all versions of the game received mixed reviews, but the Reception section instead says that reviews for the Amiga version were mostly positive. This inconsistency needs to be addressed before this is approved. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:35, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5: Oops, I changed the wording in the reception section for the GA review and forgot to do the same for the lead. I just updated the lead; is the new version any better? Canadian Paul 09:58, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
  • Thanks, there seem to be no more issues, so this is good to go. As the original hook may be confusing, ALT1 is approved instead. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 07:22, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
  • @Canadian Paul: According to the supplementary rules, hooks dealing with works of fiction or media need to involve the real world in some way. I'm not rejecting ALT1 as I still think it's very interesting, but to be on the safe side, I suggest you propose additional hooks about the game from a real-world perspective. The time limit, as a game mechanic, is not really in-universe and thus might be accepted, but backup hooks may still be needed here. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 04:03, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
