Cliff Alexander

[edit]
  • ... that Cliff Alexander (pictured) did not play organized basketball until eighth grade because his neighborhood was unsafe?

1. I want to know the biography of this player at the beginning, not the end of the storyline.
Cut'n'paste:
Personal
Alexander's father is 6-foot-7-inch (2.01 m) Clifton Terry, who played basketball for Robeson High School and Kennedy–King College. Following his time at the two-year Kennedy-King, he declared for the 2001 NBA Draft. His professional career included time in the NBA Development League. As of 28 November 2011, he was incarcerated. Cliff picked up basketball late due to the lack of available safe courts to play on in his Chicago West Side neighborhood known as the Brian Piccolo community. Unlike some, he enjoys the recruiting process.
This part needs wording as biography, so it must be written about the son, not the father:
Cliff Alexander is the son of NAME, a HEIGHT basketballer who played for SCHOOL. etc etc. (no need to mention his current incarceration unless you are writing Terry's bio). Cliff picked up basketball late (This is the point to mention 8th Grade). etc etc etc
I don't understand your first point. I feel some of my pronouns may have been confusing. I have changed those. Let me know if your concern remains.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:54, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
2. The lead section is fine.
3. If a heart murmur affected Alexander's career, then it needs mentioning in this Biography section, not just in the section about his varsity career.
Amandajm (talk) 05:34, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
You want it both in the varsity career and the personal section?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:54, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
Yeah! Amandajm (talk) 07:27, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
I think I disagree. I believe heart murmurs are dangerous during times of high physical stress, like competitive basketball. I don't think they are as much of an issue in everyday life.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 22:55, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
  • Needs a full formal DYK review, including all of the usual criteria; should consider previous comments during the process, and also both hooks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:05, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
  • Date, length/expansion, NPOV, and sources are good and the hooks are cited (I think the first is much more interesting, it's up to you though). Also I realize its been a long time since this was nominated, but I would like to suggest that it possibly be held until Nov 15 when he is going to make his announcement on what college he is going to attend. As a top prospect his article will probably get a lot of traffic anyway and it would be nice to have this excellent article linked on the main page that day. If so, I would also suggest that the image to the right (or possibly a slightly more cropped version; though I realize its already cropped..) would be nice to have as well. • I have cropped out 1/11th on each side kept the top and bottom in 4x3 proportion. Thus the image will appear 11/9ths larger. I could shave a little more. According to his school, his press conference begins at 1:50 PM (central) on the 15th, which I guess means ESPN has a 2, 2:30 or 3:00 show so the last queue on the 15 would be fine. I will move this to the date request section.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:38, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
