Chinese home run
[edit]- ... that sportswriter Dick Young's lead to his article about Dusty Rhodes' game-winning "Chinese home run" in the 1954 World Series prompted Chinese Americans to demand the term be retired?
- ALT1:
... that, in 1954, a Sporting News writer asked a Chinese American who wrote a petition calling on sportswriters to stop using the term "Chinese home run" why it had taken so long to protest? - ALT2:... that sportswriters largely stopped using the term "Chinese home run" after the Polo Grounds and its 258-foot (79 m) right-field fence (pictured) were demolished in 1964?
- Reviewed: Kayla Mueller
- Comment: I would like this one to be considered for April 6, Opening Day of this year's baseball season.
- ALT1:
5x expanded by Daniel Case (talk). Self nominated at 16:09, 18 March 2015 (UTC).
- Amazing job! As a fellow baseball fan, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. 5x expansion verified. New enough, long enough, well referenced, neutrally written, no close paraphrasing seen. I prefer the original hook, or, if a picture slot is available, ALT2, but ALT1 is rather difficult to read. The original hook is verified and cited inline. Could you please point me to the inline cite for ALT2? Image is pd. I also added a clarification tag where it is unclear who you're referring to, Schumacher or Dorgan. The QPQ that was submitted does not seem like a regular, full review. Do you have another one to offer? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:34, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you; I'm glad someone decided to review this before Opening Day. I am in a bit of a rush ATM but will get to your issues. I must admit, though, that this is the first time I've had one held up for the QPQ not being sufficient. It ran, is all I can say, but I sort of see your point and I'll do another one. - I have put in that it was Dorgan who disliked the Giants, and removed your tag. For ALT2, I would direct your attention to the footnote at the end of the first graf, where the Dickson entry, which states the same, is cited. Daniel Case (talk) 03:18, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- And I now I have reviewed Poinciana Parkway. So I'm ...
- Done. Daniel Case (talk) 03:30, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
