Carl Friedrich Rungenhagen
[edit]- ... that Carl Friedrich Rungenhagen (pictured) succeeded Carl Friedrich Zelter as director of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin and continued Mendelssohn's revival of music by Bach and Handel?

- The hook is sourced. I would have to read the whole book The Life of Mendelssohn to check it, though. (To check if Rungenhagen "continued Mendelssohn's revival of music by Bach and Handel".) And to show that I actually read the article, I will add that I didn't understand what the reference 3a references. --Moscow Connection (talk) 23:09, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- I added a source, we could nw say more specifically:
- ALT1: ... that Carl Friedrich Rungenhagen (pictured), director of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, conducted in 1833 the first performance of Bach's St John Passion after the composer's death? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:27, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
- This alternative is sourced too. Relying on good faith of the author cause I'm not familiar with the topic. The source says the work was "awakened" and I don't know whether it means "performed for the first time since Bach's death." --Moscow Connection (talk) 12:11, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your good faith! I added a source which says so (also that the piece was then "dormant" for 50 more years). The German Wikipedia mentions the fact of the St John performance several times, but without a source as far as I see, not reliable ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:33, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
- I checked, the new source says so. Everything is okay, the hook can be promoted. --Moscow Connection (talk) 12:42, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
