CBS Playhouse
[edit]- ... that the CBS Playhouse series of teleplays were nominated for twenty-three primetime Emmy awards, winning ten?

Created 27 December, article and hook length are good, article is properly sourced, except that I can't find the source for the hook. Thargor, could you point out the source(s) for "nominated for 23 and awarded ten." I've looked at the ones in the article, but I'm not seeing those numbers. Sorry if I'm just overlooking them. - Not a problem - those sources are at the end of the relevant line in the article, footnotes 8 and 9. Thanks! Thargor Orlando (talk) 18:59, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I saw those, but do they give those numbers? I count 20 Emmy nominations and four wins here (but I may be miscounting). SlimVirgin (talk) 19:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- The Emmy site was...less than illuminating in some regards. I see where I went wrong, though - the actual number is 28 per the count at the IMDb site. I had misread the link from the front IMDb page and did not do the raw count on my own. That's a really sloppy error on my part, and one I have fixed both above and at the article. That's why this is a collaborative project, right? Thargor Orlando (talk) 19:12, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

- Indeed. :) SlimVirgin (talk) 19:19, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- Also, just looking at a copy edit, I would suggest: "... that in the 1960s the CBS Playhouse teleplays were nominated for twenty-three Primetime Emmy Awards and won ten?
- Makes sense, and I will also incorporate that change. Thargor Orlando (talk) 19:12, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

- Not sure which source you're preferring for the numbers, but I can't see 28 in either of them. It would probably make sense to stick to the Emmy site, unless you can find a more authoritative one, though I'm not sure what that would be for an issue like this. - I'm getting the count from IMDb directly, the link provided has them for both Emmys and Director's Guild, which might be some of the confusion? If anything, it seems that the Emmy site is not up to date (for example, it doesn't note *why* each person was nominated, but simply for CBS Playhouse), so maybe that's at issue. Maybe at this point this isn't a good candidate after all. Thargor Orlando (talk) 20:12, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

- Can you post here a link to the source that says or shows 28 Emmy nominations? SlimVirgin (talk) 20:23, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- The problem is that the Emmy site shows 20 total Emmy entries, but only from 1967 and 1968 (none of those from later years), and two of these appear to be from a production of The Glass Menagerie which was not a new play, but apparently was released under the Playhouse's aegis. Have you gone looking for one of the 1969 Emmys listed by IMDb through another route on the Emmy site, which might help you track down the rest of them? If anything is going to be official, the Emmys site would be best, or a press report with secondary information for each of the four Emmy years. As it stands now, the hook needs better sourcing, and this nomination has been stuck for about two weeks. Alternatively, you could note the first episode's great award success; there ought to be sources for it. Or take another tack entirely. But some progress needs to be made within the next week.
