Byron A. Stover

[edit]

Source: On p. 45 of Legendary Local of Bend Oregon, it says: "Governor Tom McCall and Byron A. "Dutch" Stover did spadework at the September 23, 1971, dedication of Dutch Stover Park, named in honor of Stover’s decades of service to Bend, Oregon…"

  • Honestly, a new hook might be needed here, as I don't think this hook appeals much, if at all, to non-Oregonians. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:11, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
  • How about this ...
ALT1: … that Byron A. Stover was a football letterman and forestry major at Ohio State University before moving to Oregon where he became a successful businessman and state legislator?
Source: On p. 45 of Legendary Local of Bend Oregon, it says: "A 1913 forestry graduate and two-year football letterman at Ohio State University, Stover arrived in Bend in 1914. … Stover returned to Bend to purchase … the newly completed Capitol Theater … the almost adjacent Liberty Theater, and other Central Oregon theaters. … Beginning in 1949, he served several terms in Oregon’s state legislature."
Seem like this has broader appeal...Ohio, football, forestry, Oregon.--Orygun (talk) 06:38, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, that sounds like a better option. However, I'd suggest linking to letterman since that's a rather technical term that's not exactly familiar to non-Americans (both in the hook and the article itself). Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 04:21, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Done. Also, linked football to American football for benefit of international readers.--Orygun (talk) 20:44, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Thanks. Article meets DYK requirements and is free of close paraphrasing. Article facts are all cited inline; I don't have access to the Google Books page used as a reference so AGF there. A QPQ has been done. Let's go with ALT1. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 06:15, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
