Bud Osborn
[edit]- ... that Bud Osborn, a poet from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, advocated for supervised injection sites?
Created by InverseHypercube (talk). Self nominated at 18:38, 18 June 2014 (UTC).
- The article is new enough and long enough, but there are issues with the referencing and the tone. Per DYK rules, each paragraph requires at least one citation, and there are several large claims that really should be cited (e.g. that he attempted suicide). The neutrality is also a bit iffy (e.g. "he was a beloved figure in the community", "His poetry gave voice to the poor and the homeless"). Lastly, it may not be a pertinent point for DYK but it's quite strange that the article bills Osborn as a poet by profression yet there is virtually no discussion of his poetry outside the lead. 97198 (talk) 09:19, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments! The paragraphs were not uncited: the citations carried on into the following paragraphs. In any case, I fixed it.
- I was unsure about the neutrality too. I changed it.
- You're right about there not being enough information about his poetry. InverseHypercube (talk) 06:00, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Attempting to kick this can a little further along the road ... : Re above issues: Confirm date and length, and that paras are now all referenced. Suicide attempt now referenced to online citation #1. "Beloved figure" and "poetry gave voice" passages have been removed. I accept that more information on the poetry can be added later; meanwhile there is already a bibliography of his books in the article. Neutrality and objectivity are now OK. Conclusion: all issues raised above are now resolved. Continuation review: No QPQ required for this self-nom who has 3 DYK credits. Hook is acceptable and short enough, and checks out with online citation #1. New issue:
"in toledo ohio his father a reporter for the toledo blade" is a duplicated passage from citation #3. Please re-write it in your own words. When the new issue has been resolved, this nom should be OK. --Storye book (talk) 12:42, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! I didn't even use that citation for that passage; maybe the wording slipped in subconsciously. In any case, I reworded it. InverseHypercube (talk) 15:53, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, InverseHypercube. All issues now resolved. Good to go. --Storye book (talk) 16:31, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
