Bubsy 3D
- ... that Bubsy 3D is considered to be one of the worst games of all-time? Source: "EGM's Crapstravaganza: The 20 Worst Games of All Time - #17: Bubsy 3D (Playstation)" "The 30 worst video games of all time – part one - Bubsy 3D (PlayStation, 1996)"
- ALT1:... that Bubsy 3D's development was challenged by the team's unfamiliarity with 3D technology? Source: "Bubsy (3D) was the first foray for the studio to get into the console (PlayStation)," Reese said. "The PlayStation had introduced the capability of doing 3D... it was all the rage to do 3D, so that was sort of the transition... and it was a hard transition. There was a lot to figure out."
- ALT2:... that despite negative reception, Bubsy 3D was one of the earliest 3D platformers to establish the genre along with Super Mario 64 and Crash Bandicoot? Source: "But in 1996, a trilogy of games came out that would solidify the 3D platformer and by and large create its expectations. Super Mario 64 in June, Crash Bandicoot in September, and Bubsy 3D in October."
- ALT3:... that while making Bubsy 3D, creator Mike Berlyn was worried about the inferiority of the game after seeing Super Mario 64 at the 1996 CES? Source: Berlyn: "Here’s exactly what happened: It was at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. My then partner and I flew out there to help man Accolade’s booth and demo Bubsy 3D. It looked pretty good. I mean, it was in beta. It wasn’t a final, shippable product. But it was pretty good. And I wandered over to the Nintendo area. I wouldn’t call it a booth; it was more like a small office building. ... I saw Mario, and I said, “That’s it. Back to the drawing board.” I went back and told my partner to go look at Mario and come back and talk to me about it, and he did. And I said, “We can’t ship this. We just can’t.” He said, “Accolade paid us a lot of money to develop it; what are we going to do?” I said, “We’re going to go back and we’re going to do the best that we can to make it as good a product as we can with the limits that we have. And that’s what we did, but it was definitely a rude awakening when I saw Mario 64. Mr. Miyamoto ... was an employee of Nintendo, so he had all of Nintendo behind him. We were independent developers who were trying to make ends meet and ship a reasonable product. So the differences show, much to my chagrin."
- ALT4:... that while Bubsy 3D is often labeled as one of the worst video games of all time, it had a positive to mixed reception around its initial release? Source: "Time was not kind to Bubsy 3D, which has become known as one of the worst video games ever made (especially as Atari’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial fades from our memories). But back in 1996, people didn’t see it that way. It launched to some fairly mediocre reviews, while a few outlets had a lot of good things to say about it. Even today, I would argue that it should be viewed more as a cautionary tale than as a true failure."
- ALT5:... that Warner Bros. animator Chuck Jones oversaw Bubsy 3D's art direction? Source: The flat-shaded polygon graphics, rather than the now-familiar texture mapped, were chosen by Chuck Jones who's overseeing the art direction. Flat-shaded polygons better portray his cartoon style and if there's anyone whose cartoon style you must respect it's Chuck Jones'.

Overall: I will pass ALT 4 as it seems to be the most interesting considering what this game is most famous for. The initial hook is a bit unbalanced, ALT 1 and ALT 3 wouldn't interest anyone who didn't know of the game's infamy, ALT 2 is cited towards what seems to be a questionable source, and ALT 5 probably wouldn't even interest someone who does know of the game's infamy. ALT 4 provides benefit to both those who don't know the game's infamy by telling them about its infamy and provide new information to those that do know about the infamy.
