Bronze Head from Ife
[edit]- ... that, Leo Frobenius said, when the Bronze Heads from Ife (example pictured) were found, that this showed that Ancient Greeks had lived in Nigeria – creating the Atlantis myth?

- Length and age are both fine. No copyvio. Ref ok. Can be DYKd with image. But who is the "some" in the hook. Can that be more specific? - AnakngAraw (talk) 18:24, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- Leo Frobenius ... Victuallers (talk) 19:33, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- - Ready and set per above. Good to go. - AnakngAraw (talk) 20:05, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- The article seems to say that Frobenius could be the origin of the Atlantis myth, but I don't think it is explicitly stated, unless I am misunderstanding. In the hook I'm reading that he created the myth. The hook is a little bit cumbersome as well. If we keep this hook, I would try starting it with "... that when the Bronze Heads from Ife..." to make it more straightforward. EricEnfermero HOWDY! 01:48, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- The hook change you propose is possible - do you want to create it? (the Atlantis Myth was started in ancient Greece thousands of years ago) Victuallers (talk) 09:52, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Actually, as someone who is not a subject matter expert, I find the whole section about Frobenius to be confusing. How did Frobenius undermine the Western understanding of African civilization? While that section needs to be made more clear, I find it a lot more interesting that the heads were found while digging a foundation for a house and I wonder if a simple hook could be written from that. - By all means - draft these hooks. See what others think. I think that finding the evidence for white people establishing a city in Nigeria >2,000 years ago is pretty amazing but maybe you were not aware that this myth was started by Plato. However - do have a go - without a solid hook proposal however may mean that your idea and this hook just hang in the air so do draft your ideas. Victuallers (talk) 22:10, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- I'm really not even to the point of evaluating amazing versus bland. I'm simply telling you that both the article and the hook are written in ways that leave some of your points unclear to the average reader. The alternate hook would be more straightforward, but the latter portion of the article still isn't easily understandable. I can help with hooks if you need that assistance, but I can't rewrite the section about Frobenius because I don't really understand what is being said. - Hi, Ive rephrased the article - hope this helps Victuallers (talk) 10:08, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- ALT1 ... that when the Bronze Heads from Ife (example pictured) were found in Nigeria in 1938, Leo Frobenius said they were Ancient Greek and explained the Atlantis myth? On behalf of the FMP (Front for the Minimization of Punctuation). Nice article on a VERY badly covered area. Johnbod (talk) 17:19, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- "Well", We! might not meet your "high" standards, FMP???? But!, we like the hook, a lot!!!! Victuallers (talk) 08:25, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- This seems to need a review at least of ALT1, and possibly of the section about Frobenius. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:02, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
