Briggs (rapper)
[edit]... that indigenous Australian rapper Briggs toured with his childhood idol Ice Cube the year after releasing his first EP funded by Hilltop Hoods' MC Suffa?

- I'm concerned about some of the sources for this article. What makes "G&T", "AllAussieHipHop", rhythm & poetry, "TheOrangePress", and "Luna Digital" reliable sources apart from interviews?
- The statement about a tattoo being on his arm should also have an actual written source, or else it is original research.
- The info about his daughter's birth date is also original research because the post dates may be different from her birth date.
- The information about him uploading photos about his tattoo is trivial and should be removed. The source, Oli Sampson, looks unreliable as well, so all citations to it should be removed.
- The mention of hitting No. 3 on iTunes needs to be reworded per WP:BADCHARTS. iTunes is a specific vendor, and also does not archive its chart positions. Basically, it's not actually a chart. I deviate a little from BADCHART in that I think that if a third-party considers it notable that an album charted on iTunes, it should be mentioned, but only in the album article and only if mentioned by a third-party source. However, Briggs commented on how well the album did on iTunes, so that comment could be mentioned. Just change to focus of the sentence to the comment by Briggs (for instance, "Briggs has stated that he "didn't expect" the album to sell as well as it did, which according to Briggs included reaching No. 3 on iTunes.")
- I'm unfamiliar with Rapper Tag. Is it reliable? There really should be a third party source for that.
- Finally, the hook needs reworking. Briggs never actually called Ice Cube his idol, he just said that he grew up on him. So that could be changed. The whole info on his releasing an EP should be removed entirely as it is merely distracting.--¿3family6 contribs 00:22, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback, 3family6. I will review the article with your comments in mind.
- One question about the hook. Part of the relevance/interest in Briggs having toured with Ice Cube is that it happened so soon after his career started to get underway, i.e., just a year after releasing his first EP. Perhaps the funding from Suffa is getting in the way. What about this?
- Thanks again for taking the time to review this. In response to your comments:
- I have deleted the Oli Sansom refs, which you said were unreliable.
- The location of the tattoo is also mentioned in the G&T ref, so I have cited this instead.
- I have deleted the date of Briggs' daughter's birth. I'm sure Briggs tweeted earlier the same day or day before that he was waiting for the birth, but I can't scroll back that far through his tweets.
- I have amended the article to remove the trivial information about Briggs uploading photos on his tattoo of his daughter, but kept reference to the fact that he has the tattoo.
- I have updated the reference to the iTunes charts.
- I have included additional citations for Rapper Tag, including a report from Triple J radio.
- Hopefully these changes will help to bring the article up to scratch. What is the process for having the revised DYK nomination re-considered/approved?—sroc (talk) 11:42, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

*This is the process: Approved.--¿3family6 contribs 14:38, 6 September 2012 (UTC)- Hold on. Another editor has questioned the reliability of some of the sources involved.--¿3family6 contribs 21:46, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- I have made further revisions to remove dubious references and made further comments on the article's talk page. Not sure whether I should remove the "reliable sources" tag without someone else checking it first. —sroc (talk) 05:00, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
