Brandenburg (ballet)
- ... that Jerome Robbins's final ballet, Brandenburg, is likened to a kaleidoscope? Source: [1][2]

- Interesting ballet, on fine sources, no copyvio obvious. I could approve the hook, but how about the quote with the "dazzling speed"? ... and/or mention the music, because I guess the average reader of the Main page will rather allude a region than Bach music? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:48, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- I don't fine the "dazzling speed" quote particularly interesting, but I'm adding Bach to the hook as followed.
- ALT1: ... that Jerome Robbins's final ballet, Brandenburg, is likened to a kaleidoscope, and set to excerpts of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos? Corachow (talk) 12:25, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

I am going to WP:BEBOLD and unstrike ALT0. I think that hook is interesting because it is short, gets to the point, and causes the reader to quickly read what is the highlight of the hook. Other information can be explained in the article, and in my opinion, hooks are most interesting when they highlight as few facts as possible. I checked the source and the hook is verified. I'll let the prepper decide which hook is best, though of course feedback and opinions are always welcome. Z1720 (talk) 15:52, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Corachow and Gerda Arendt: If ALT0 was stricken because of interest level, then I would like to keep ALT0 as an option for preppers. If ALT0 was stricken because of other concerns (not verified, not in article, etc.) then please post below and I will strike it again. Z1720 (talk) 16:13, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- ALT0 was stricken because ALT1a seems much better. We have to plan our hooks around the knowledge of our general readers, as explained a bit above, and I fear that Brandenburg will be for them only a region, while the choreographer chose a title expecting people to know he referred to the Brandenburg Concertos. Prep builders, please keep in mind it's for 29 July. Will move it to special occasions. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:24, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think a lot of people, at least those who uses Wikipedia in English, knows about the Brandenburg in Germany. If the readers are wondering why is there a ballet named after a German region, the answer is one click away. Corachow (talk) 18:39, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know. Last month, 16k views for the region (which is now a state of German (Bundesland), 4,5k views for the concertos. In Germany, I'd expect many to not even know the Concertos exist (26k for the state, 1k for the concertos.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:49, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: You said, "ALT0 was stricken because ALT1a seems much better." I think this is an interest reason, not a verification or copyright reason. When I've approved hooks, or when looking at other noms when prep building, I usually don't strike hooks that I find less interesting. Instead, I state which one I prefer and only strike if a hook has a verification, copyright, or other problem. I disagree that an explanation of the name of the ballet needs to be in the hook. I would rather have other opinions on the hook (including a prepper) determine which hook is best, and prefer if ALT0 was unstricken. Z1720 (talk) 18:56, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- For the record I think even less people knows about the Bach concertos than the German region. I think in some cases mentioning the music makes the hook interesting but in this case, with "kaleidoscope", naming the score is not necessary. Corachow (talk) 19:08, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Unstriking ALT0. I love Bach, sorry. I usually strike less preferred hooks to make life easier for a prep builder, but it seems that it's not understood or even wanted. I'll be more careful in what I review, perhaps. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:14, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
