Blechhammer concentration camp
- ... that 75 years ago today, German soldiers returned to Blechhammer concentration camp to murder the remaining prisoners? Source: "The prisoners awaiting the Red Army in Blechhammer spent several quiet days. But then, on January 26, 1945, a group of 100 to 150 SS troops arrived... they started to murder the weak prisoners who lay inert on straw-filled sacks in the sick bay [later they killed more prisoners] ... Apparently, fewer than 10 prisoners escaped this slaughter" Blatman 2011 p. 93

- Comment: Please run on 26 January.

- Shocking story, has to be told, on few but good-looking sources, all offline, accepted AGF. I stumbled over "3,000 male and around 200 female ...", - would expect "around" for both. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:57, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- (ec) I also came by to review this, and while all criteria check out, the hook is really not clear. Why would prisoners remain in a concentration camp? Perhaps something should be said about the camp being evacuated and ill patients being left behind? Yoninah (talk) 23:03, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: How about one of the below? Although I feel like there's some way to say this more concisely that I can't think of. buidhe 23:09, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- ALT1... that 75 years ago today, German soldiers returned to Blechhammer concentration camp to murder prisoners who had been unable to leave the camp?
- ALT2... that 75 years ago today, German soldiers returned to Blechhammer concentration camp to murder prisoners who had been left behind during a death march?
- @Buidhe: Here's another idea. It could run on January 26, but it's not so necessary to say it; actually, when I started reading the article, I wondered why you weren't running it on January 21.
- ALT3:
... that five days after evacuating the Blechhammer concentration camp in January 1945, German soldiers returned to murder prisoners who had been left behind?Yoninah (talk) 23:18, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- No, your phrasing is better:
- ALT4: ... that five days after evacuating the Blechhammer concentration camp in January 1945, German soldiers returned to murder prisoners who had been unable to leave? Yoninah (talk) 23:20, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- ALT4 preferred --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:24, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
