Balu Mahendra
[edit]... that Balu Mahendra is said to have witnessed the shoot of David Lean's The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) during his childhood?

- There's something wrong here. It's a little unclear but certainly subject was a late-teenager, not a "child", during Kwai production.
- ALT1 ... that Indian filmmaker Balu Mahendra saw the shooting of David Lean's The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) on a school trip?
However, there's a problem. I don't see either his age (as on original hook) or the field trip (ALT1, found in the article) in the source the article cites. This needs to be looked into before we can go further, or other hooks offered. EEng (talk) 20:58, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- About the age, even Bau Mahendra himself was not very sure. In TV interviews he had mentioned that he would've been around 13-14 at the time. —Vensatry (ping) 15:16, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Well, the article needs to state the hook facts explicitly, with cites. EEng (talk) 16:11, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Isn't the fact mentioned in the article? —Vensatry (ping) 16:50, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, but the cited source(s) don't mention his age, or a field trip, just "A Sri Lankan Tamil, Balu Mahendra was fascinated by the world of cinema after watching The Bridge on the River Kwai shot there." EEng (talk) 16:56, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- My bad. Now done I think —Vensatry (ping) 04:52, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- OK, with the new cite ALT1 is fine. Striking ALT0 since age remains unclear. EEng (talk) 19:02, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- Review needed.
- How about ALT2 ... that Balu Mahendra was a gold medalist from the Film and Television Institute of India in cinematography? —Vensatry (ping) 17:12, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Good to go for ALT1. Recent GA, hook/source/etc all fine. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:50, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
