Assumption of the Virgin (Palma Vecchio)
... that the Assumption of the Virgin (pictured) by Palma Vecchio, not only corresponds to the Assumption of Mary but also corresponds to the legend of the Girdle of Thomas?Source: "Vi sono riassunt i due episodi: l'Assunzione della Vergine e la leggenda della cintola che essa darà a Tommaso come prova della sua salita al cielo." Catalogo generale dei Beni Culturali (in Italian)- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Maybole Castle
- Comment: This painting has a relation with the Catholic Mariology and it was suggested that it should be DYKed for this near upcoming feast of the Immaculate Conception which will be celebrated on September 8.

- This is an interesting painting, on few but good sources, Italian sources accepted AGF no copyvio obvious. Any others sources for this painting? The image is licensed and would be good to have. 8 September would be the date, but - sorry - why didn't you begin sooner? The queues for the day are filled and settled. I am afraid we have to go for some other day, unless an admin is willing to work a miracle. - Hook: please avoid "corresponds" twice, - perhaps even avoid the word. In the article, I dislike the "sandwiching" of text between the images, and would do completely without the Bellini, which will only serve confusion. There's a link. Also: I have no idea what "angel holding the Assumption" means. Normally references should not be in the lead, but only in the body. Check for "depictions ... are depicted" and "foldsm" - such things. When you are done copy-editing, please call Johnbod who is well-versed with writing about paintings. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:02, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, "corresponds" is not idiomatic here. Johnbod (talk) 14:15, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that the Assumption of the Virgin (pictured) by Palma Vecchio, depicts the legend of the Girdle of Thomas as part of an Assumption of Mary? Johnbod (talk) 14:15, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, that's more to my liking, thank you also for help with the article.
- To not hold this up, I approve ALT1. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:59, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- I believe that the Immaculate conception is a very different feast, so won't request to show this then. If any of you wants to pursue the idea, WT:DYK is the place to ask for exception-making. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:02, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
