Arsenal F.C.–Stoke City F.C. rivalry
[edit]- ... that the Arsenal-Stoke City rivalry started in earnest as a result of a tackle which broke an Arsenal player's leg?

- This article is big and new enough. Created by the specified person. QPQ done. The text is referenced throughout. However hook is not supported by the article. The leg break is there in 2010, but the rivalry is not mentioned as starting with that. Instead it says rivalry started 2y before in 2008 Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:41, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Graeme Bartlett: It is in there, it just has in earnest in there. I have just added that to the hook. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 11:45, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- OK, the article does say it, but the reference (and the next too following) do not confirm that this was the start or earnest start of rivalry. They mention the rivalry and the break, but do not say that it was the cause. They are linking it by juxtaposition, but your article statement suggests that several have said this. So hopefully there are more suitable references out there. There seems to be a rush of soccer DYKs, but that is no reason to slow down! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:13, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- I have added the goal.com source to the sentence. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 13:48, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- ALT1 ... that the Arsenal-Stoke City rivalry began in earnest after a tackle broke an Arsenal player's leg?

- Thanks for the extra reference, the original (and alt1 ) hook is now verified by citation. Also quick check showed no plagiarism. Original hook states more directly the cause, but the alt1 is just the timing, so I would still prefer original hook (even if al1 is more compact), So good to go.
