  • Article is long enough and posted by due date. Hook is cited and verified. No copy vio noted and the text is neutral. Author has less than 5 DYKs as verified from his talk page, hence QPQ is not required. Good to go.Nvvchar. 12:28, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this but find the hook rather bland. How about:
  • ALT1: ... that a Scottish commander was able to purchase the land for the Ardstinchar Castle (pictured) thanks to a "golden handshake" from King Charles VII of France? Yoninah (talk) 23:08, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
I think the original hook fact is interesting, in that having no more use as a stronghold, the castle was demolished, specifically to provide stone for the bridge. How about ALT2?
  • Thank you, @Cwmhiraeth:, that looks very good. But what about all the close paraphrasing? This must be rewritten before we can pass this:
  • Source: Ardstinchar Castle was built by Hugh Kennedy of Ardstinchar, a commander of Scottish troops who fought with Joan of Arc against English forces at the Siege of Orleans (1428-1429), a significant battle of the Hundred Years' War in which Joan of Arc first established her renown.

  • Source: Hugh was subsequently chosen to escort King Charles VII of France on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. On his return the king bestowed upon him a knighthood and a golden handshake that allowed him to purchase the land on which Ardstinchar Castle was built.

  • Cwmhiraeth, Yoninah, the nominator, Supdiop, has been blocked as a sock, and talk page access has been revoked as well. Under the circumstances, if something isn't done soon about the close paraphrasing, then the article should be tagged and the nomination closed. What do you plan to do here? Thanks. • My only involvement in this was proposing an alternative hook. However, I am not in favour of tagging articles and leaving them for others to deal with, so I have done some rewriting and, if he is satisfied, perhaps Yoninah can sign it off. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:58, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you, @Cwmhiraeth:, for fixing up the close paraphrasing and also editing the article and proposing ALT2. I'm not a big fan of salvaging the nominations of disappearing editors or, in this case, socks, but you have done a fine service for DYK and I added your name to the DYK creation credits. ALT2 is verified and cited inline. Image is freely-licensed. Rest of review per Nvvchar. ALT2 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 10:41, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
