Angelo Ciccone
[edit]- ... that on Angelo Ciccone's cycling debut at the 2004 Summer Olympics, he lapped the entirety of the field twice?
- Comment: Not a self nomination

- New enough, long enough (though still classified as a stub), no copyvio detected, QPQ not required. The hook is inadequately sourced - as far as I can tell, the citation doesn't verify Ciccone's debut, that he lapped the field twice, or that he participated in the Olympics. - Although you are right about most of that, it does verify that he competed in the Olympics. I will look for sources. Thanks, Matty.007 09:26, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
- I removed the info after failing to find sources. How about 'Alt 1: that at the men's points race at the 2004 Olympics, cyclist Angelo Ciccone got just over half of the victor's points?' Thanks, Matty.007 09:34, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
- A little less interesting, but I think it could do. I would tweak the hook to mention cycling. Would also take out the word "successfully" from the sentence in the article. EricEnfermero HOWDY! 09:45, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

- ALT1 is good to go. EricEnfermero HOWDY! 11:55, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
I think I may have responded too quickly on this one. I see where the ALT1 is sourced, but the more I think about it, the hook reflects a negative aspect of a living person. I found it interesting that he went from first to 14th at the 2008 Games, but that's also something pretty negative I believe. Is there some interesting, sourced fact about Ciccone that isn't overly negative? I apologize for doing this to you three days after telling you it was fine, but I doubt that the DYK would be allowed to go to the main page like this. - How about Alt 2: that at the men's points race at the 2004 Olympics, cyclist Angelo Ciccone got just over half of the victor's points, which left him in eighth place out of twenty contestants? Is that less negative? Thanks, Matty.007 16:00, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- In that light, I guess it's not too negative, but it seems pretty unremarkable. I don't know if a reader would be likely to click on the article after reading the hook. EricEnfermero HOWDY! 08:50, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, but that was the only interesting hook I could think of. If there are any others... Matty.007 16:11, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
- How about if I strike "out of twenty contestants"? Thanks, Matty.007 20:23, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- That still seems like a pretty average finish. Has Ciccone done anything out of the ordinary during his career? EricEnfermero HOWDY! 14:56, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm. How about A;t 3: that Angelo Ciccone lapped the entire field, but didn't win a point in the Men's Madison at the 2008 Summer Olympics? Matty.007 17:15, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes - I think we're there now. Was long enough, new enough, no copyvio. ALT3 is short enough, interesting, well sourced and not overly negative. Good to go. Would simply take out the comma in the hook. EricEnfermero HOWDY! 03:03, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
