Substantial biography full of well-sourced details. You heard it before: please add a composer's last name to operas, Turandot could be Puccini's or Busoni's, La bohéme Puccini's or Leoncavallo's, - just as a service to the reader. The hook is sourced. I'd say "dramatic works by" instead of "operas composed by", because some are not really operas. I don't know if "starred" is the best word for someone who sang mainly supporting roles. I confess that while was thrilled to learn about the Britten, other readers may not even have heard the name. How about the number of performances, perhaps mentioning the last role also, because it's a typical one. Or mention his talent for acting in comedy? My choice would be the Madwoman, for a quirky ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:12, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
Um...Gerda, he had the lead roles in the Britten operas (except for Billy Budd) so starred is appropriate. That's one reason why I chose to highlight that contribution because it was one of the few times in his career when he moved out of a secondary part into a leading position, and did so in a historically important way. The sources call the works operas, so I don't think that word is a problem. As for Britten, among English language readers he is a well known name. I like my hook. I am happy to add some more composer names. Best.4meter4 (talk) 12:33, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that Metropolitan Opera tenor Andrea Velis starred in the United States premieres of four different operas by Benjamin Britten?
