Amy Richlin
[edit]- ... that Amy Richlin teaches ancient sex?
- Reviewed: Jean Tatlock
- Comment: This article was started at the 2017 Women in Classics editathon. The hook can be confirmed at UCLA.
Created by Paul W (talk). Nominated by Andrew Davidson (talk) at 18:50, 25 January 2017 (UTC).
- This nice article, about a very interesting academic, is a lovely addition to the encyclopedia. The article is over 1500 characters, it was created on January 23, and it is within policy (with one exception, mentioned at the end of this review). QPQ is satisfied and there are no images associated with this nomination. The hook is interesting, under 200 characters, and it is supported by an inline citation to her UCLA bio. If we want to be perfectly precise, it might be more accurate to say that she teaches about sexual practices in the ancient world, but I think that we can allow for some flexibility to attract readers through catchy hooks. There is only one item that needs to be addressed before this can be promoted: In the paragraph that begins with
"Richlin studied at Smith College ..."
there is only one citation, which is placed halfway through the first sentence. If this entire paragraph relies upon the Wyles and Hall article for support, then you should put the citation at the end of the paragraph (per WP:CITEDENSE). If not, then you will need to add appropriate citations. Paul W or Andrew Davidson can one of you please address this? Many thanks for creating this article and for nominating it for DYK! Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 19:17, 26 January 2017 (UTC) - Thanks for the review. I'll let Paul have first crack at responding as he may not have seen the nomination yet and so it would be good to get his input. Andrew D. (talk) 19:24, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- Richlin's CV is provided by UCLA and helpfully gives dates for her previous teaching appointments. I have added the ref to cover the whole para, as the Wyles & Hall article mainly related to her early career. Paul W (talk) 14:12, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Paul W and Andrew Davidson, many thanks for following up about this. All statements in the article are now substantiated by inline citations. This nomination is good to go! Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 17:29, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
