Amar Jawan Jyoti

Amar Jawan Jyoti
  • ...that since 1971, fire has been burning continuously in four urns around the Indian memorial Amar Jawan Jyoti (pictured)? Source: "Amar Jawan Jyoti".

  • New enough and long enough. Three phrases in the lead were closely paraphrased, and I changed them, so there's no close paraphrasing problems now. The information on indiagate.org was difficult to understand--perhaps something was lost in translation? The article appears neutral and its sources are sufficient. The photo doesn't have any license issues.
  • The fact in the hook is incorrect. One of the sources you cited, 5 Things Every Indian Needs to Know about the Amar Jawan Jyoti, states that the fire in only one of the urns burns year-round. The other urns are lit on special occasions. Here are two other hooks I propose (the second is just because I thought it was an interesting fact). What do you think of these? • ALT 1: ...that fire has been burning continuously since 1971 in an urn at the Indian memorial Amar Jawan Jyoti (pictured)?
  • ALT 2: ...that the person responsible for ensuring a flame is continuously lit at Amar Jawan Jyoti lives in a room inside the nearby India Gate?

I can't approve these hooks, because I proposed them. They need a new reviewer or approval by the original author (I think). Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 19:40, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

  • This article is new enough and long enough. The image is suitably licensed and I am approving ALT1, because I cannot access the source for ALT2. The article is neutral, Earwig was clear and I detected no policy issues. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:29, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
