Aluphone
[edit]- ... that the Aluphone is a musical instrument that was inspired by the sound of protective metal cones on wooden poles? [1])
- ALT1: ... that metal cones designed to protect the tops of wooden posts inspired the creation of a new musical instrument called the Aluphone?

- Comment: I'm not crazy about this hook. Open to suggestions.

- I capitalized Aluphone in the hook since it usually capitalized when written out in most sources I have seen. Also, I have now reviewed another DYK nomination. -- kewlgrapes (talk, contribs) 19:52, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
- Do you have any information about the history and early development of the instrument? The article doesn't mention who invented it, which seems like a pretty big omission in terms of content. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:53, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for reviewing it, Narutolovehinata5. The inventors/early history are mentioned in the first paragraph of the "History" section. Is it unclear? -- kewlgrapes (talk, contribs) 01:00, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Kewlgrapes: It wasn't clear at first glance that Hansen was the inventor. Also, no mention of a year of invention is made, or at the very least when and how Glennie became aware of the instrument. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:18, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

- @Narutolovehinata5: It must have been really unclear then, as it was a joint collaboration between two men, Hansen and Steensgard. I've reworked the invention story in the article. Care to take a look? Unfortunately, it is not mentioned in any of my sources why they decided to present the instrument to Glennie, although I can only assume that they did so because they thought that she would be interested, as she is a rather unconventional percussionist. -- kewlgrapes (talk, contribs) 03:12, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- I found some information about the relationship between Glennie and the inventors and added it to the article. Also, I reformulated the hook and added it above as ALT1. -- kewlgrapes (talk, contribs) 04:14, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Kewlgrapes: Article looks better now, but I think that "recently played" should be changed to simply "played" per WP:WTA. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 02:24, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

- Sounds good to me: the article meets the other requirements such as newness and length. The article is adequately sourced, and so are both proposed hooks. QPQ is not needed as nominator currently has less than five DYK credits (currently 0). No copyright infringing material was found. Either hook is good for promotion; up to the promoter what to use.
