[edit]- ... that Albert Pierce Taylor, author of Under Hawaiian Skies, attempted to join the Cuban War of Independence but was deported by the Spanish?

- Review underway. Long enough and new enough.
- One problem is the hook fact needs a citation in the article at the sentence. MB 18:53, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

- Article is neutral, well cited, no copyvio or plagiarism detected. Hook meets requirements and is acceptable. QPQ review done. However, perhaps this is more "catchy":
- ALT1 ... that Albert Pierce Taylor, author of Under Hawaiian Skies, failed to fight the Spanish in Cuba but succeeded in the Philippines?

- In my opinion, it just sounds weird? Maybe let just let the promoter decide?--KAVEBEAR (talk) 05:02, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- OK, that's fine. Since ALT1 is in the running, someone else should review that hook. MB 05:09, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- - reviewing ALT1 I see in the source Taylor was in active service in the Philippines and returned to Honolulu, Nov. 16, 1899. I am assuming this is the reference for ALT1 - if so, then should the inline reference be in the article directly behind the sentence ...he enlisted and fought in the Philippines. Or if I am mistaken, please point out to me that it is already referenced and I will review ALT1?--Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:48, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
