Air stripline
[edit]... that air stripline is particularly useful for creating beam forming networks in the 4–8 GHz microwave band?Source: "The air stripline type of BFN is compact but more lossy. Its application is generally limited at the C-band or lower-frequency bands" [1], "As indicated earlier, this air stripline transmission medium is very attractive in the C-band and in lower frequency – band applications.[2]

- Comment only How is this hook "interesting to a broad audience" please? Edwardx (talk) 00:49, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
- The subject is rather technical, for me anyway. Perhaps something vaguely salacious such as:
ALT1 ... that air stripline has been superseded by microstrip?
- ALT2
... that air stripline is used in preference to the more widely used microstrip for some applications?
- ALT3
... that air stripline has largely been superseded by microstrip?
Thanks, I've added "largely" to ALT1 to create ALT3 above. Edwardx (talk) 12:35, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- Personally I really don't like that very much. It is negative about the subject and although true, misleading if taken in isolation. SpinningSpark 18:32, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not that keen on it either, but it is challenging material to come up with anything hookier. Hooks are a bit like newspaper headlines, as long as they are not untrue, the aim should be to get us to click through to the article. Even if it is perhaps a bit negative, the relevant criterion is, "does not focus unduly on negative aspects of living people", and this is an inanimate object, so not relevant. - I'm not involved in the review of this article, but I dropped by to offer ALT4, which should be easily understood by most readers. Mindmatrix 19:43, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
- ALT4: ... that in an air stripline, air is used as an electrical insulator to reduce transmission losses?
- Personally I really don't like that very much. It is negative about the subject and although true, misleading if taken in isolation. SpinningSpark 18:32, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- Full review of nomination needed now that the hook discussion seems to be over. Per DYK rules, the hook must be interesting. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:46, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
