Agriotes sputator
[edit]... that the larvae of the common click beetle are known as wireworms and cause much damage to crops?
- Reviewed: Armenian cochineal
Created by Cwmhiraeth (talk). Self nominated at 07:20, 23 November 2014 (UTC).
- Length, newness verified. No other issues detected. However, hook needs to be directly cited. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 07:38, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- You reviewed the article so quickly, within minutes of my nomination! I was still adding the extra information required for the hook and it is now there. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:45, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't mean to rush you. In any case, although the hook can be deduced from the article content, I am concerned that it includes vague terms such as "much damage" which is not found in the citation. I think it should be fine-tuned so that it actually represents a fact that is found in the citation. For example something along the line that it is "One of the most common harmful agricultural insect pests.", as mentioned in the citation, but suitably paraphrased. - "One of the most common harmful agricultural insect pests." as mentioned in the citation, has become "The common click beetle is one of the most harmful common agricultural pest insects" in the article. I have altered the punctuation so that this statement has an inline citation as well as the list of crops affected. Does this solve your problem, or are you concerned that the damage is done by the wireworms rather than the beetles? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:13, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

- ALT1 ... that the common click beetle is an agricultural pest and its larvae, known as wireworms, cause damage to crops?
- My concern is that the phrase "much damage" does not appear in the article. The hook material should be referenced in text. Perhaps an ALT2 can be proposed to include the sourced fact that they are "amongst the most damaging" pests in agriculture. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 17:17, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- I have removed the "much" from ALT1. I don't want to go along the "most damaging" route because there are a number of different species of click beetle around the world and my source, which is Russian, is unlikely to be authoritative on species of beetle not found in Russia. If necessary I will propose a quite different hook but personally, I think the present suggestion is satisfactory. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:15, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
