Aftermath (2012 film)

[edit]
  • ... that like his character Józef in the 2012 Polish film Aftermath, Maciej Stuhr, has been disparagingly accused of being a Jew by his critics?

Created by Plot Spoiler (talk). Self nominated at 20:39, 9 November 2013 (UTC).

  • The actual sources aren't quoted in this nomination ... only the "opinions" about them from foreign language dailies are. The article by Magdalena Rigamonti in Wprost is readily available online. It is a well-written defense of Maciej Sztur as the lead actor in this film. The magazine cover photo "defaced" by a Star of David was a metaphor exactly opposite the message conveyed in the story. However, the creator of this article does not seem to understand Polish and instead, relied on a wrong translation of the title which reads: "Lynched on his own request" (again, a metaphor exactly opposite the article message, a good journalistic hook more less), followed by the equally false foreign language summary of the article message written in the Polish language. The end result is such that our article is a direct manipulation of the truth. The good guys are the bad guys. Ms Rigamonti (who isn't even mentioned by name) and her publisher, have been falsely accused of anti-semitism by Wikipedia, a real WP:BLP nightmare. Poeticbent talk 00:23, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Sadly I have to endorse Poeticbent: the article as written suffers from NPOV issues, and the hook takes from the some of the most problematic content of the article. This may be held in the DYK queue till the article and the hook are NPOVed. (Date, size are otherwise ok) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:43, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Just checking guys. If, as you say, the article falsely accuses people of anti-semiticism then those bits at least need to be deleted. I worry that we are just concentrating on DYK and not also protecting the wiki. Apologies if you have addressed this subtley but I cannot see lots of templates on the article which is what I expected. Cheers Victuallers (talk) 22:26, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Pinging Plot Spoiler's talk page for a response, which has not yet been done for any of the reviews here. BlueMoonset (talk) 19:28, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
I can't see a lot wrong with the article, but Poeticbent's assertion that parts of it are based on a mistranslation is an issue that probably needs to be addressed before promotion. Gatoclass (talk) 09:23, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
  • It having been two weeks (less part of a day) since I posted the talk page ping, and no response from Plot Spoiler despite activity elsewhere on the site, I'm closing this due to the issues listed above and lack of interest on the part of the nominator.
