- The original text doesn't specify that the sultan was blind (he may have simply had poor vision), and we can't really know the mob's motivations. ALT1 is better but not quite right: "while" is ambiguous, and "assassination and "coup d'état" are both misleading. How about ALT2: "... that when an angry mob overran the palaces in Granada in 1309, they spared the sultan, but made sure to kill his vizier Abu Abdallah ibn al-Hakim? - @DragonflySixtyseven: Thanks for the suggestion and for taking a look. About the blindness, indeed Harvey seems to be more careful to not say "blind", but other cited sources did mention that, e.g. "Muhammad III se quedó ciego y hubo de dejar las riendas del gobierno a su primer ministro" (Rubiera Mata p.111). For the sake of being careful I added an ALT0a above with poor eyesight instead of blind, what do you think? ALT2 is fine too - I tweaked it a little to mention the vizier's name: in order to both increase the prominence of the target article and to avoid the discouraged WP:EASTEREGG. - Strong preference for (your tweaked version of) ALT2. Do we know the name of the palace in question? If so, it should probably be linked, both in the article and in this hook. DS (talk) 15:52, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- @DragonflySixtyseven: No, it does not mention the name of the palace. Actually Harvey mentioned two palaces being stormed: the vizier's and the sultan's. I clarified the article to mention that, and replace palace with palaces in the hook. Would that work? HaEr48 (talk) 20:16, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
Oops, forgot about this. Yes, that tweaked version of ALT2 would be excellent. DS (talk) 16:45, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- Full review needed now that hook discussion has concluded. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:11, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
