- Comment: This is not a review, but the assertion that Abbas Ali Baig was the first person ever to be kissed on a cricket field seems unlikely. Are we to believe that for decades, no cricketer received a peck on the cheek from his/her spouse before, during, or after a match? The sentence in your article making the claim that this was the first kiss does not include a citation, and I could not find support for this assertion in the Ramnarayan book. Do you have another source that supports this? If I may instead suggest an alternate hook:
ALT1: ... that Indian cricketer Abbas Ali Baig was once kissed on the cheek in the middle of a match?
- Let me know what you think. Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 19:22, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Notecardforfree: The claim was already covered by a reliable source. Nevertheless, I've included another one from The Economic Times. I personally feel ALT1 isn't really an interesting one because cricketers being kissed on field is not very uncommon these days. —Vensatry (ping) 05:36, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
- Well, looks like the sources proved me wrong on that one. As someone who knows almost nothing about the culture of Indian cricket, it seemed like a claim that would be almost impossible to verify, but I certainly understand several decades ago a kiss was considered quite scandalous by some. Per your recommendation, I struck ALT1 for not being interesting. As soon as you do a QPQ I can review this for you. Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 06:26, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Notecardforfree: QPQ done —Vensatry (ping) 19:10, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
- This looks good to go. The text of the article was 5x expanded on August 25, the article is long enough, QPQ is satisfied, and there are no problems with policy. The hook is under 200 characters, sourced with an inline citation (see discussion above), and very interesting. Nice work! Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 09:31, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
