Antonín Sova

[edit]

Sova in 1885

5x expanded by Aloysius (talk). Self nominated at 20:09, 23 February 2014 (UTC).

  • The following was reviewed by EagerToddler39 based on the DYK criteria:
  • Newness & length - 5x expansion confirmed (expansion began 23 February). Article long enough at 3218 characters. Removed stub classification from talk page.
  • Neutrality - A few words/phrases need to be removed/adjusted: "keen supporter" / "the prominent poet".
  • Paraphrasing/copyvio - Mostly foreign language and/or offline sources so cannot completely check for copyvios. .
  • Content verifiability - A few inconsistencies need to be rectified. this source has him in grammar school from 1881-1885 but the article puts that date to 1886.
  • Hook format & verifiability - Hook length is within policy. Hook is verifiable but the wrong inline citation is being used. Footnote [4] seems a more appropriate inline citation for this piece of info as the poem is translated into English there. I believe that you need another footnote here: The poem, in which he calls Mommsen a "covetous dotard" and an "arrogant spokesman of slavery.
  • QPQ - Confirmed
  • Other - Minor copy edit needed to the existing hook. ... historian a "covetous dotard". Also per WP:MOS "Quotations that are translations should be explicitly distinguished from those that are not." Is this "the Czech skull is impervious to reason, but it is susceptible to blows" a direct quotation or a translation by the creator?
  • Image - Image is in the public domain outside of the US but hasn't been confirmed for the US as yet. Appropriate United States public domain tag not yet included. The qualify of the image I also believe needs improving. Would not recommend including image when promoting the hook.
  • Please apply the recommended fixes. EagerToddler39 (talk) 04:43, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
  • I tried to apply the recommended fixes. Aloysius (talk) 20:06, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Improvements noted. We're almost there. However still outstanding - This source has him in grammar school from 1881-1885 but the article puts that date to 1886. Please also observe the "Please do not write below this line or remove this line. Place comments above this line" when making comments to this DYK. I moved your previous comment above the line. • The year is probably really 1885, many printed sources avoid the exact year by saying "in the mid 1880s" and the one I drew from [1] stated 1886 but it probably refers to staying in Písek and not graduation from the grammar school which all deeper sources on the internet cite in 1885. I changed the date in the article, although it is not confirmed by archives. Aloysius (talk) 07:48, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- Everything good to go (foreign language source supports hook). EagerToddler39 (talk) 17:41, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
