20th Mechanized Corps (Soviet Union)

[edit]

Created by Kges1901 (talk). Self-nominated at 11:03, 20 August 2016 (UTC).

  • Long enough, new enough. Neutral, cited (AGF where appropriate), free from close paraphrase (AGF where appropriate)
  • Hooks (as revised) OK for length, both cited, but imo the orginal is the better for DYK.
  • QPQ carried out
  • Good to go. Smerus (talk) 10:53, 21 August 2016 (UTC)
  • @Kges1901 and Smerus: I came by to promote this but I have found a couple of challenges. 1) The hooks says "almost entirely destroyed", the article lead says "destroyed", no qualifiers at all? Actual text states that they were ordered to destroy their equipment, which the hook does not properly convey. Also the hook mentions the "Battle of Biyalistok-Minsk", which ended on July 3, no mention of the division being destroyed. I am sorry but the hook does not reflect the content of the article. I would invite the nominator to create a new hook and the reviewer to then look at it with a more critical eye.  MPJ-DK  01:10, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
  • @MPJ-DK:. Hi! I feel you are being a bit over-cautious here - the hook is supported by citations which make it clear that after the actions at Białystok–Minsk and Smolensk (of which the Mogilev pocket was a part) the Corps no longer functioned and that all that remained was 100-200 men. That to seems adequately to justify "almost entirely destroyed". The proposer in fact altered the original hook from "destroyed" to "almost entirely destroyed". It might perhaps meet your requirements if the lead was also altered to reflect this, but in any case the hook itself seems to me to be accurate and supported by references (for which I AGF).Smerus (talk) 07:31, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
  • @MPJ-DK:. Modified lead to reflect that it was almost entirely destroyed. Kges1901 (talk) 07:36, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
