2011 Montreal Museum of Fine Arts theft
[edit]... that a theft of art six years ago today started a chain of events that inspired the title of the film Yoga Hosers, as well as a character in it? Source: The Edmonton man who inspired 'Yoga Hoser' arrested for possession of a $1.2-million ancient statue, The Globe and Mail, April 28, 2017ALT1:... that an Edmonton man paid CDN$1,400 for an ancient Persian relief stolen six years ago today and valued at $1.2 million, thinking it was a replica? Man who bought stolen artwork didn't know it was worth $1.2 million, CTV News; February 14, 2014- ALT2:... that an Edmonton man who unknowingly bought a $1.2 million artwork stolen six years ago today kept it in his bedroom next to Star Wars figures and stuffed animals?Source: The Edmonton man who inspired 'Yoga Hoser' arrested for possession of a $1.2 million ancient statue, The Globe and Mail, April 28, 2017. "At first, Mr. Metke kept it in a meditation area in his living room. But he eventually moved it onto a bedroom bookshelf, where the bas-relief sculpture that once lined the hall in Persepolis sat among an array of Star Wars figurines, stuffed animals and crystals, no more meaningful or special than his other mementos and icons."
ALT3:... that after an Achaemenid relief stolen six years ago today was recovered, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts decided not to buy it back from its insurer? Stolen Artifact Returned to Montreal Museum ... But How Long Will It Remain There?, Artnet; February 22, 2014. "Presumably the Montreal Museum board will vote on whether to reacquire the work at its March meeting, a decision which seems likely given the rarity and cultural importance of the work." What to see at Frieze 2016, Royal Academy of Art, October 6, 2016. "This year he had an Assyrian relief from Persepolis of museum quality (it was previously owned by the Montreal Museum of Art)" See pictures with both articles; it's the same one.

- Comment: I would like this to run on September 3, the anniversary of the theft of the relief referred to in all the hooks.

- New, long enough, sourced, neutral, QPQ done, no apparent copyvios. Approving ALT2; made a minor change (replaced "small" with "$1.2 million") to amplify the contrast with the figurines and stuffed animals.
- Note: Hook is worded assuming this runs on September 3. If it doesn't, "stolen six years ago today" should have "today" removed. --Usernameunique (talk) 15:53, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
