1936 Alabama Crimson Tide football team
[edit]- ... that prior to winning 323 games as a college football head coach, Bear Bryant's first coaching position was on the staff of the 1936 Alabama Crimson Tide football team?

- Article is new enough (previously a re-direct), long enough, sourced to reliable sources, and appears to meet core policies and guidelines, including lack of plagiarism/copyvio. However, the hook fact is contrary to what other sources say. The Wikipedia bio on Bryant states that his first coaching position was at Union University, indicating that he left that position when offered an assistant coaching position at Alabama. This source even indicates that Bryan was at Union College as an assistant coach in 1935. See also this source indicating that he coached first at Union. The article looks fine, but this hook fact appears to be wrong. Can you come up with another? Cbl62 (talk) 02:35, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- You are correct about that in that Bryant did coach in the spring of 1936 at Union, and then at Bama in the fall of 1936 for his first regular season as an assistant coach. Great catch! He may have been offered the Union position in 1935, but definitely did not coach as he was a member of the Alabama squad for the 1935 season. Below are some alternates:
- (ALT1)... that prior to winning 323 games as a college football head coach, Bear Bryant's first regular season coaching position was on the staff of the 1936 Alabama Crimson Tide football team?
- (ALT2)... that after he coached at Union in the spring, Bear Bryant returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach on the 1936 Alabama Crimson Tide football team for their regular season?
