Template:Cyclone wind converter (metric)/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template is intended for use in season effects tables in tropical cyclone season articles. It takes in the wind speed of a tropical cyclone in knots, and outputs the equivalent wind speed in kilometres per hour, with miles per hour in brackets. It does not reproduce the initial knots measurement or the unit abbreviations, which makes the template ideal for use in the season effects table. Additionally, an input value of "Not specified" is also supported.

Usage

[edit]

This template accepts only one unnamed parameter, which is the wind speed of a tropical cyclone, measured in knots. The transclusion syntax is as follows:

{{Cyclone wind converter (metric)|KNOTS}}

where KNOTS is replaced by the wind speed in knots.

Some example outputs are given in the table below:

Input syntax Output
{{Cyclone wind converter (metric)|100}} 185 (115)
{{Cyclone wind converter (metric)|Not specified}} Not specified
{{Cyclone wind converter (metric)|}}
