Appearance
"Cite HOT". Handbook of Texas (online ed.). Texas State Historical Association.
Usage
[edit]This template is a wrapper around {{cite encyclopedia}}. It is intended to format a link to the online edition to the Handbook of Texas Online so that it appears as a standard citation, while filling in common cite parameters and the url based on the fixed identification number.
For example (from the Citation section at the bottom of each page):
- Handbook of Texas Online, Eugene C. Barker, "Austin, Stephen Fuller," accessed June 21, 2016, https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fau14
- Uploaded on June 9, 2010. Modified on May 10, 2016. Published by the Texas State Historical Association.
- Handbook of Texas Online, Eugene C. Barker, "Austin, Stephen Fuller," accessed June 21, 2016, https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fau14
Can be formatted with the following parameters:
- id=id — for example: id=fau14 (the last few characters of the url, after the last "/")
- title=title of article — for example: title=Austin, Stephen Fuller
- last=last name of author — for example: last=Barker
- first=first name and initial. of author — for example: first=Eugene C.
- author-link=title of Wikipedia article about the author — for example: author-link=Eugene C. Barker
- date=modified date if it exists, otherwise uploaded date — for example: date=May 10, 2016
- orig-year=uploaded date if modified date exists, otherwise omit — for example: orig-year=June 9, 2010
- This template can be used as a general reference and linked to a short citation.
Alternative parameters:
- last=last name (or last1, last2, ...)
- first=first name (or first1, first2, ...)
- author=first-name initial last-name (or author1, author2, ...)
- authorlink=title of Wikipedia article about the author (or authorlink1, authorlink2, ...)
- origyear=origyear
An example of a entry:
{{Cite HOT |id=fau14 |last=Barker |first=Eugene C. |author-link=Eugene C. Barker |title=Austin, Stephen Fuller |date=May 10, 2016 |orig-year=June 9, 2010}}
produces the following link item:
- Barker, Eugene C. (May 10, 2016) [June 9, 2010]. "Austin, Stephen Fuller". Handbook of Texas (online ed.). Texas State Historical Association.
