Template:Cfr main page banner
The related Category:UNKNOWN has been nominated for renaming. You are encouraged to join the discussion on the Categories for discussion page. |
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:Cfr main page banner}} ). |
When nominating a category on WP:CFD, add this template to the main article's talk page to notify users of the category's nomination.
Usage
[edit]On the talk page add:
{{subst:Cfr main page banner|category name|date=yyyy Month dd}}
If the CfD section name is different from the category name (e.g. when nominating several categories at once), add this:
{{subst:Cfr main page banner|category name|date=yyyy Month dd|CfD section name}}
Example:
{{subst:Cfr main page banner|Example category|date=2024 November 28}}
will produce:
The related Category:Example category has been nominated for deletion, merging, or renaming. You are encouraged to join the discussion on the Categories for Discussion page. |
Also will add the article to Category:Categories for discussion notices.
You can be more specific (which helps reduce some editors' feeling of alarm, if it's just a rename or merge!) by using one of the following:
|type=renaming
|type=merging
|type=deletion
Template wrappers {{cfrnotice}}
and {{cfmnotice}}
do this for you automatically.
You can also specify the target of a rename or merge (just the category name without the "Category:" part (this can't handle complex cases like a three-way merge):
|type=renaming
,|target=New category name
|type=merging
,|target=Redundant category name
{{cfrnotice}}
and {{cfmnotice}}
will also pass this parameter, and have mnemonic |to=
and |with=
aliases for them, respectively:
{{subst:cfrnotice|Foo|target=bar}}
{{subst:cfrnotice|Foo|to=bar}}
{{subst:cfmnotice|Foo|target=bar}}
{{subst:cfmnotice|Foo|with=bar}}
