Usage

This template must be substituted. Overwrite the old image name (including the brackets and prefix) with {{subst:barnalt|newname=x|oldname=y}}.

• newname: the name, including prefix (file: or image:) and extension (such as .png) of the alternative image.
• oldname: the name, including prefix (file: or image:) and extension (such as .png) of the original image.
• newsize: the size of the new image, including px. Default is 100px.
• oldsize: the size of the old image, including px. Default is 100px.

Then, when using the barnstar template, "|alt" will cause the alternative image to be used.

Please add Barnstars which use this template to Category:Wikipedia barnstar templates with alternative versions. This is done automatically with {{barnalt/usagenote}}.

Example 1:

Example 2:

{{subst:barnalt|newname=File:Original Barnstar Hires.png|oldname=File:Original Barnstar|newsize=50px|oldsize=200px}}

Notes

Limitations

• This template only works with images. See {{Alternative}} for more options.
• This template fails if the second unnamed parameter is already taken. To bypass this problem, subst this template normally, then change the {{{2}}} parameter to one number after the last named parameter.
