Template:AlgaeBase genus/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The template creates a citation to the information webpage for a genus in the AlgaeBase taxonomic database.

To create a citation to the taxonomy browser webpage for a genus in AlgaeBase, use {{AlgaeBase taxon}}.

Usage

[edit]
  • {{AlgaeBase genus|name=GENUS NAME|id=#####}}
  • {{AlgaeBase genus|mode=cs1 (default) OR cs2|name=GENUS NAME|id=#####|access-date=DATE}}

The name parameter should give the genus name (without italics).
The id parameter should be the number at the end of the url for the genus information webpage, often a 4 or 5 digit number. For example, if the url is https://www.algaebase.org/search/genus/detail/?genus_id=52021, the highlighted number, 52021, would be put into the id field to create a citation with a link to the AlgaeBase page on Actinodontum.
The mode parameter with a value of "cs2" can be used to generate a cs2 style citation; the default is cs1.
The access-date parameter gives the date on which AlgaeBase was accessed.

Examples:

  • {{AlgaeBase genus |name=Actinodontum |id=52021}}Guiry, M.D.; Guiry, G.M. "Actinodontum". AlgaeBase. World-wide electronic publication, National University of Ireland, Galway.
  • {{AlgaeBase genus |mode=cs2 |name=Actinodontum |id=52021 |access-date=2022-02-18}}Guiry, M.D.; Guiry, G.M., "Actinodontum", AlgaeBase, World-wide electronic publication, National University of Ireland, Galway, retrieved 2022-02-18

Important: AlgaeBase uses different urls for genera, species, and higher taxa. Use the following templates for species and higher taxa respectively:
