Teck Lee LRT station is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Punggol LRT line West Loop in Punggol, Singapore, located above Sentul Walk. The station is walking distance from the future Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) campus in Punggol.[2] The station commenced operations on 15 August 2024, about 22 years after construction, in light of Punggol Digital District and SIT Punggol campus in the vicinity. It was the last station on the Punggol LRT line and of all LRT lines in Singapore to open. The station was named after Lim Teck Lee.[3]

History

Teck Lee LRT station was completed like the rest of the stations on the Punggol LRT system in 2004.[4][5] However, like many stations on the west loop, it remained closed after completion due to low development. After the opening of Samudera station in 2017,[6] Teck Lee was the last remaining station on the Punggol LRT line that remained closed to the public.[7][8]

The station facilities were updated constantly, like the half height platform barriers and the information boards, with the exception of the MRT map.[9]

In May 2024, a post on the website of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) initially said that Teck Lee would open to the public by August that year. The website was subsequently edited to remove this information, with an SIT spokesperson explaining that this was because "details have not been finalised".[7][8] The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has not given an opening date for the station, however CNA said there were "indications" that the station would open by the end of 2024 in order to serve the students at SIT's Punggol campus, which would open in September that year.[7]

On 31 July 2024, LTA announced that Teck Lee would open on 15 August that year. Covered linkways would also be constructed between the LRT station, SIT Punggol Campus and Punggol Digital District. With recent developments, the station is now located on Sentul Walk.[10]
