Tango Bar is a 2024 film by Venezuelan director Gibelys Coronado, based on a novel of the same name by Francisco Villarroel, with cinematography by César Bolívar.[1]

The film had its premiere at the closing ceremony at the 10th Rajasthan International Film Festival on 31 January 2024 at The Gem Cinema, MI Road, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, where the film wont best film award.[2][3] The film was released theatrically in Venezuela on 7 March 2024.[4]

In its tour of international film festivals, the film participated in the 7th Santander International Film Festival (SANFICI),[5] in the 28th Regional and International Film Festival of Guadeloupe (FEMI)[6] and in the 36th Girona Film Festival.[7] The actress Jeska Lee Ruiz received the best secondary actress award at the Festival de Cine entre Largos y Cortos de Oriente for the movie.[8]

Plot

Maria, a young woman who wanted to become a fashion model, is deceived into traveling abroad, believing that she is going to fulfill her dream of international fame, when she arrives in the destination country, she realizes that she has been trafficked for sexual exploitation. At the Tango Bar, the brothel owner Rubén subdues her by violence, but María never abandons her desire to regain her freedom.[9]
