Population
[edit]The population of Surch is completely different in the various language versions of the article. Can someone find out which figure is correct (the years also vary) and insert it everywhere?213.127.210.95 (talk) 14:19, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- there are now different figures by year. gidonb (talk) 22:40, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Zurich, Friesland → Zurich, Netherlands – Per longtime WP convention, we disambiguate with "Netherlands" unless there are multiple such places within the Netherlands. If there are multiple places, we use provinces then municipalities. Both provinces and municipalities are local government in the Netherlands. gidonb (talk) 15:07, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
opposeper WP:PLACEDAB—blindlynx (talk) 20:37, 22 December 2020 (UTC)- PLACEDAB seems to say the opposite: "Places are often disambiguated by the country in which they lie, if this is sufficient" and "If using the country name would still lead to ambiguity, use the name of a smaller administrative division (such as a state or province) instead." Station1 (talk) 20:45, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- fair enough —blindlynx (talk) 19:36, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nom and PLACEDAB and WP:RECOGNIZE. - Station1 (talk) 20:45, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Support even the Dutch Wikipedia uses the country to disambiguate and WP:PLACEDAB doesn't give any exceptions for the Netherlands to use the state so we use the country which is far more useful on the English Wikipedia. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:22, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- Support per above. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 11:43, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
