It looks as though the problems that caused it to quickfail on the first nomination have been addressed. I have started my review below. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Arconning I thought I'd ping you since you mentioned you would welcome reviewing this in its previous review. If you would like, we could co-review? It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:31, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- @It is a wonderful world Yello! I probably cannot as I am quite busy with my school works ^^ Arconning (talk) 10:34, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- All good, best of luck with school It is a wonderful world (talk) 14:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

- Hi @BennyOnTheLoose, I have reviewed the prose and most other things. I will wait until the concerns have been addressed before doing the spot check. It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:09, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Prose (Criteria 1a, 1b, 4)
[edit]Lead
[edit]Will review after the body.
Early life
[edit]Her birth name in the infobox is given as "Zoë Smith" with the diacritic on the e. If this is correct, firstly it needs a source and secondly it should be either used in the article consistently, or mentioned in the Early Life section. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Looking at sources, I don't think there should be a diacritic and so have removed it.
I think "De Lucy primary school" should be capitalised even though it isn't in the source. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Amended.
In 2005, aged 12, Smith was training at the Europa Gym as a gymnast: Most readers will have no idea what Europa Gym is, so it should either be cut, given a brief definition or linked. I am in favor of cutting it and replacing with something like "local gym". It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Amended.
was in a different part of the building and was seeking female competitors: Conciseness, and this somewhat conflicts with the later part of the paragraph. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Amended.
Suggest linking "Greenwich" It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Done.
Still aged 12, Smith was rated the fourth-best female weightlifter in the UK.: No way this is true, I think the source means fourth best twelve year old, and since this is a WP:EXCEPTIONAL claim, it needs better sourcing than one news report. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Pending Looking into this.. She was second to Breeze at the UK senior championship in 2010, which is consistent with the source's "By 14, she was No2, behind the two-times Commonwealth champion Michaela Breeze."
Early career
[edit]Smith won at the South East County Championships It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Amended.
What is a "major competition"? It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure there is a definition. Removed for now - the alternative would be to find furtehr sources describing it as such.
The first paragraph has loads of exceptional claims, which need better sourcing than singular news reports. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Smith won at the South East County Championships, her first major competition, and was selected for the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games where she was the youngest member of the English team, and won the gold medal in the 53 kg category.: WP:CINS says the commas by the "and" words should be eliminated, but then the sentence would be borderline unreadable, so it really needs to be broken up. It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Split.
During 2008, she set national records 98 times across junior and senior classes, ending the year holding all junior and senior records for the 53 kg weight category, with the exception of the clean and jerk record, and, in the 58 kg category, every record that she could as someone aged under 18: Its unclear whether "in the 58 kg category, every record that she could as someone aged under 18" refers to an exception or more records she owns. Generally these sorts of ambiguities arise when using long sentences punctuated by only commas. It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Split.
competing against athletes up to four years older: Slightly lacks neutrality. I suggest ", competing in the ##–## age category". It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
She was selected as the 2011 School Sport Matters Female Pupil of the year, and was a co-presenter for the award to the State School of the Year at the 2012 School Sport Matters ceremony: Only include this if these awards are notable, and if they are, they should be redlinked. It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Looks like these don't get much coverage. Removed.
2012 Olympics and following years
[edit]was chosen to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as part of Team GB: Conciseness, no need to repeat information It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Amended.
Since 2018
[edit]she was permitted to have an epidural: It's unclear what an "epidural" means here. Pain relieving medication? It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Amended, with a different link.
on Smith's Wikipedia article: This is pretty funny, but I don't think "Wikipedia" needs to be linked. It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- De-linked.
Suggest linking "UK Sport" It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Done.
Coaching and preparation
[edit]Looks good :)
Media appearances
[edit]Smith was a guest on the BBC One quiz show Question of Sport in 2012, 2014, and 2023: Shouldn't it be "A Question of Sport"? It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- It was known as just "Question of Sport from 2021 to 2023"; could be amended to reflect that.
She featured in British Olympic Dreams on BBC One in 2012,[42] and alongside fellow weightlifters Hannah Powell and Helen Jewell in Girl Power: Going for Gold on BBC Three the same year.: WP:CINS It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- WP:CINS is an essay, not a policy or guideline. But I've removed the comma.
Can "British Olympic Dreams" be linked to Olympic Dreams (TV series)? It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I spent a bit of time looking into this and I don't think there's quite enough evidence to do that, but it does look quite possible that they are related.
Later in 2012, she spoke on BBC radio and television about dealing with critical comments about her not conforming to a typical physique: The double "about" makes his hard to follow It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Reworded, but happy to hear a better alternative.
, in which celebrities in recreated environments from historical times: Doesn't make sense It is a wonderful world (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Reworded, but happy to hear a better alternative.

[edit]Most of the URLs need URL status parameters, a lot are dead and [7] has been usurped. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think I've udated these - let me know about any exceptions. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 21:40, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- They look good It is a wonderful world (talk) 22:38, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
It would be extremely helpful if URLs could be found for some of the unlinked newspaper sources. It is a wonderful world (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I don't know any way to link to The Times, The Sunday Times or the Daily Mirror without subscriptions. If there is any particular source you want to review I can email the relevant article. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 21:40, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I will want to have a look at [13] and [14], it would be great if you could email them.
- Regarding paywalls, I guess it is just a stylistic preference of mine that they be linked anyways. I feel it leaves a lot more to work with towards locating a source. Its up to you as to whether you add them or not though, it certainly isn't a GA criteria. It is a wonderful world (talk) 22:37, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Reliability (Criterion 2b)
